Avelino Nambo, 59, resident of Ellensburg, passed away at the Virginia Mason Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Viewing was at Steward & Williams Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg a reception followed in the Parish Hall.
Avelino was born on August 25, 1958 in Jeruco, Michoacan, Mexico to Bartolome & Maria (Soledad Zacarias) Nambo. He attended school in Mexico and eventually immigrated to the United States in 1979, first moving to Chicago and then to Kirkland, Washington in 1982. He worked primarily in agricultural labor and spent 15 years with Eppinga Farms as a dairy worker.
Avelino met Anita Ojeda Villalpando in Jeruco, Michoacan in June 1978 and they were married on July 28,1978 in Cuitzeo de Porvenir. He and Anita moved to Ellensburg in 2013 to be closer to family. Avelino was a huge sports fan and loved all things Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders and Huskies. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors but perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters.
Avelino is survived by his wife Anita at the family home in Ellensburg; sons Danny & Waldo Nambo and daughter Belinda Nambo; granddaughters Maya and Mia; grandsons Micah and Kai as well as 8 brothers and sisters and many extended family members and dear friends.
