Barbara Jean Romans was born on August 30, 1933 in Snoqualmie Falls to Dorothy (Protsman) and George Carey. She attended Snoqualmie Evangelical Lutheran School and graduated from high school in 1952. Her Lutheran heritage and her faith in the Lord remained strong throughout her life.
While working in Seattle, Barbara met Glenn Airth and they married in 1955. Glenn's job took him to Arizona, where Barbara and he lived until 1985. After Glenn's death Barbara returned to Snoqualmie Falls. In 1986 she married Arthur Romans and they settled down in Cle Elum. Art was a member of VFW and Barbara supported the VFW until her death.
Barbara loved to cook and she enjoyed trying recipes from her favorite magazines. In her later years, she looked forward to her Wednesday bus trips to Ellensburg for various appointments. These often included shopping and occasional lunching out at the Chinese restaurant. Barbara was grateful to all of the kind people who helped her during these years.
Barbara was very accomplished in the arts of crocheting and embroidery. She created many lovely afghans, tablecloths and pillow cases, many of which she gave to her friends. Her doll collection was also an important part of her life.
Barbara died peacefully in the KVH hospital on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She is now with her Lord and Savior but will be missed by those who loved her.
Barbara will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent with her husband Art. Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Cle Elum. Online condolences may be left at www.johnston-williams.com
