Barbara Jean Wheatley

On April 13, 2023, the world lost a beautiful soul. Barbara Jean Wheatley (Bacon) was born on March 15, 1935, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Atoka and Willie Bacon, both of whom have preceded her in death. Barbara was one of nine children and is survived by her sister, Wanda Harmon.

Barbara had four children with Solly Hauser:  Zane Hauser, Tamara Hauser Jacobsen and her husband Jim Jacobsen (both deceased), Jodi Hauser, and Holly Croff (Jim Croff - deceased). Barbara was blessed with two grandchildren, Dustin Probert (Kallie Probert) and Carley Brenteson (Brad Brenteson). She also had three great-grandchildren.

Barbara later married the love of her life, John Wheatley. John had three children: Catherine Ross (Tim Ross), Jack Wheatley (Cheryl Wheatley), and Ellen Wheatley.

Barbara was an accomplished artist most of her life. Her artwork included sculptures, oil painting, drawings, and other forms of art. She was a member of The Professional Doll Makers Art Guild and won numerous awards for her artwork, one of which was the John Clymer Award from The Clymer Museum of Art.

Barbara had a great love for traveling with her late husband, John. Together they traveled to places such as Point Barrow, AK; Europe, Central and South America’s. She also had a love for everything outdoors such as hunting, fishing, and boating. For her 80th birthday, she went skydiving like she had always wanted to do.

Barbara was one of the most generous people. She sponsored families for Christmas, participated in Toys for Tots, donated numerous artworks for benefits, and donated to many charities.

Barbara Jean Wheatley (Bacon) will be remembered for her beautiful artwork, her generous spirit, and her adventurous soul. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Barbara at The American Legion, 1101 Craig Ave, on April 29th, 2:30pm - 5:00pm.
