Betty Blazevich

Elizabeth Marie "Betty" Blazevich, 96, lifetime Kittitas County resident, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2017 at Hearthstone Cottage Assisted Living. Betty was born on November 25, 1921 in Cle Elum to Ralph "Pie" & Mayma (Columbo) Gamarra. She grew up in Cle Elum and graduated high school there in 1939 and in 1943 she married Nick Blazevich. The Blazevich's were married for 55 years until Nick's death in 1998. They lived in the same little house their entire married life and Betty remained there until 2010 when she moved to Hearthstone. In addition to working as the parish secretary at St. John's for 35 years, Betty also taught Catechism classes for many years, served on the parish finance committee, was a member of the Altar Society and the Young Lady's Institute. She also worked for several years in the Cle Elum post office sorting mail. Betty and Nick loved to travel, and they took frequent trips to Reno, Branson and Las Vegas and also took cruises to Alaska and through the Panama Canal. In later years, Betty enjoyed hearing about the travels of Alisha and Hailey Bator and collecting magnets that were sent to her from all over the world. Betty is survived by her special family, Robert & Tami Bator of Cle Elum and their daughters Alisha and Hailey, cousins Jim & Kathy Bausano of Medford, Oregon, Jack & Mitzi Pain of Seattle, Washington and Roger & Laura Berlhard of Boulder, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Nick Blazevich. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cle Elum with Father Brooks F. Beaulaurier celebrating the Mass. Inurnment will followed at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum with a reception that followed back at the church. Memorial contributions in Betty's name are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cle Elum. Arrangements by Cascade Funeral Home of Cle Elum.
