Brett Eason

February 18, 1971 — April 25, 2018

Brett Jay Eason, 47, lifetime Ellensburg resident, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from apparent natural causes. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church a reception followed. Burial took place at 2:00 p.m. the same afternoon at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Brett was born on February 18, 1971 to Darrel & Janet (Jackson) Eason. He grew up in Ellensburg and graduated from Ellensburg High School with the class of 1989. After high school, Brett attended Washington State University in Pullman, studying agriculture. In 1994, Brett began working for the Kittitas County Noxious Weed Control Board, eventually becoming a supervisor. Later, Brett worked alongside his Dad growing timothy hay and took on custom farm jobs on the side as well.

Eventually, Brett went on dialysis with Darrel taking him to Yakima and then locally. After two and one half years, Brett received a kidney transplant with his Dad by his side, even staying a month with him at Seattle Virginia Mason. With Darrel's help, Brett was able to farm. He continued to farm up until just a couple years ago when his health forced him to retire early.

Brett was also in the rental business. Brett loved spending time outdoors and was an avid elk hunter. He shot his first five-point bull elk at the age of 12 and was hooked since that time. He'd spend many hours with his father and brother hunting and as far as Brett was concerned there were two seasons - "hunting season" and "waiting for hunting season".

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all types of sports, including faithful dedication to his WSU Cougars. He was also close with his Aunt Grace and they'd talk on the phone every day before she passed away last year, just shy of age 101. He was a very caring person and will be missed by all who knew him.

Brett is survived by his parents, Darrel & Janet Eason, brother Kurt (Justine) Eason, niece Madyson and nephew Jaxon, all of Ellensburg, as well as numerous extended family members and many dear friends. Memorial contributions in Brett's honor are suggested to the Virginia Mason Nephrology Department, c/o Virginia Mason Hospital Foundation, PO Box 1930, Seattle, WA 98111. Steward & Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted with caring for Brett's family. Online condolences may be left at www.steward-williams.com
