"Bunny" Ells, 92, longtime Kittitas County resident, passed away on December 16, 2017 at Riverview Manor Assisted Living in Selah. At Bunny's request, no services will be held.
Bunny was born on July 10, 1925 in Medford, Oregon. She grew up on her uncle's ranch near Applegate, Oregon and attended school through the 8th grade in a one room schoolhouse. She often recalled the long walk along the creek that she'd have to take to get from the ranch to the school.
She married John Ells in 1952 in Medford and the young couple moved to Prospect, Oregon. In 1962 they moved to North Bend, WA and to Colville in 1976 before returning to Easton in 1988. Bunny worked as a waitress most of her life, first at truck stops in North Bend and then for many years at the Summit Pancake House at Snoqualmie Pass. She only retired when she was forced to at age 75 but never slowed down.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, camping, raising sheep and spending as much time with her grandchildren as she could. She was a phenomenal cook and will be fondly remembered by her family for the wonderful turkey dinners she would prepare.
Bunny is survived by her daughters, Donna (John) Henkel of Ellensburg and Diana Wold of Kettle Falls, WA; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. Memorial contributions in Bunny's honor are suggested to Riverview Manor Assisted Living, 555 E. Goodlander Road, Selah, WA 98942. Steward & Williams Funeral Home & Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted with caring for Bunny's family. Online condolences may be left at www.steward-williams.com
