Mom's obituary, per her instructions - She died. Mom's obituary per her family - Christine Seaton gently and quietly passed on November 5, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg with a committal service following at the IOOF Cemetery. A reception followed the committal back at the church.
Christine was the second of 13 children, born to Gertrude and Alie Czapiewski in St. Phillips, Montana on January 29, 1928. She married James A. Seaton, Jr. on November 13, 1948 in Ellensburg and the couple made their lifelong home in the Kittitas Valley. Christine was well-known in the farming and ranching community having ran the restaurant at the Ellensburg Livestock Exchange. She was famous for her peanut butter pie and was an excellent cook and pastry chef.
She also created quite a network of friendships when working for more than 30 years as a bartender at the Moose Lodge. Even years after retiring she could still remember people's orders and their names. Her passion was yard sales and finding good deals at her "favorite store". She was an avid gardener and loved tending to her vegetables, berries, and flower beds. She continued to make pickles, pies, and jam for family events. Christine was a spirited card player and enjoyed many games of pinochle and "3 to Kings" at family gatherings. To keep her mind sharp, she enjoyed working crossword and sudoku puzzles and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Christine is survived by her children Patricia Seaton; Kathy (Karl) Tostenson; Debbie (Paul) Rogers; Jim (Carrie) Seaton III; and Theresa (Gert Jensen) Seaton; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Eva Meehan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Seaton, Jr. in 1996, and brothers Charlie, Chester, Conrad, Thomas, Claude, Clarence and David Czapiewski and sisters Cecelia Ettles, Claudia Potter, Mary Ann McNichol, and Rita O'Grady. Memorial contributions in Christine's honor are suggested to the Union Gospel Mission of Yakima, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. Steward & Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted with caring for Christine's family.
