Cindy (Sinclair) Dunn

November 28, 1947 — April 14, 2024

Mesa, Arizona

Cynthia "Cindy" Gayle (Sinclair) Dunn passed away April 14, 2024, after many months in hospitals and nursing facilities in Mesa, Arizona with her husband by her side.

Cindy was born in Ellensburg, WA on November 28, 1947, to Laughlin and Virginia Sinclair. Growing up in the Kittitas Valley she loved her horse "Rusty", fishing and hunting with her family, and travel. She graduated from Ellensburg High school in 1965 and attended Cosmology School in Ellensburg working in one of the beauty salons here in town.

During a chance encounter at the Highway Grille, she met Central Washington State College student Gary Dunn, and they became inseparable. They were married on March 21, 1970, and spent 54 years together. Together they raised their daughter Jennifer, and twin sons, James and Jason, mostly in the Thurston County area as Gary was a teacher in North Thurston School District. Cindy was a full-time mother and homemaker. Her love of family, horses, photography, and sports was the theme of her life as the children grew and became involved in soccer. Gary served as coach and Cindy as assistant coach/cheerleader. They attended soccer events all over the USA as James and Jason moved from amateur status to professional soccer players. Jennifer served in the army and then became a registered nurse. James and Jason both became professional soccer players and then eventually general contractors building homes in Arizona and Washington.

Cindy shared a love of traveling with Gary and in retirement years they bought a recreational vehicle (RV) and traveled the United States. Their goal was to play golf and fish in every state. According to Gary, they fished in 31 states and golfed in 27, spending years traveling and getting to know the remote backwaters of the country and seeing the beauty that is everywhere.

Cindy was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunty, cousin, lover of family, horses, dogs, children, travel, sports, and life in general. She doted on her children and grandchildren, settling in Mesa, Arizona to be next to her sons.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary Dunn; daughter Jennifer Dunn (Mathew Earl); sons James (Vicky) Dunn and Jason (LaChelle) Dunn; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Sherrye (Ron) Wester and Heather Sinclair (Gary Hinman); and brother John Sinclair (Erin). She was preceded in death by her parents L.N. and Virginia Sinclair and her brother Richard Sinclair.

Her family plans to have a private ceremony at Paradise Meadows on Mt. Rainer this summer.
