Dolores Jeanne Burrough, 85, longtime Kittitas Valley resident, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Pacifica Senior Living in Ellensburg. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3 at Johnston & Williams Funeral Home in Ellensburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 4 at High Valley Cemetery.
Dolores was born on October 11, 1935 at Valley Hospital in Ellensburg to Denver G. & Doris E. (Granger) Pless. She grew up in Kittitas County and attended Washington Elementary until the third grade when the family moved to Thorp. She participated in school and community events growing up, and loved horseback riding and caring for the family horses. She also participated in choir in high school and was even part of a smaller group that got to perform on KXLE radio. She would sing while doing housework and passed her appreciation of music onto her children and grandchildren
During her junior year of high school, Dolores met Travis Burrough who had recently returned from combat in the Korean War and was a member of the Marine Corps Reserves. They were married in Thorp on October 25, 1952 and had been married for 66 years when Travis passed away in December 2018. Dolores was a homemaker and loved to sew. She had a great sense of humor and loved comedy movies and TV shows.
Dolores is survived by her brother Kenneth Pless of Ellensburg; three children - Kathleen Granger of Yakima, Gene Burrough of Ellensburg and Julianne Burrough-Martin of Ellensburg as well as six grandchildren - Cristina Gonzales and Elisabeth Rose Gonzales of Seattle; Nicolas Gonzales (Sarah Oliason), James Travis Taasevigen and Jesse D. Taasevigen, all of Ellensburg; and Michelle J. Taasevigen of Goldbar, WA.
