Dona Rae (Lewis) Romano

October 26, 1941 — January 22, 2018

Dona Rae Romano, 76, longtime resident of Cle Elum, passed away on January 22, 2018 at the Prestige Care & Rehabilitation Center in Ellensburg surrounded by her family. Viewing was Thursday, January 25 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Cascade Funeral Home in Cle Elum. Funeral services were conducted from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26 with burial to following at the Roslyn Eagles Cemetery. A reception will followed at the Roslyn Eagles. Dona was born on October 26, 1941 in Seattle, Washington to Ray & Emily (Ring) Lewis. She grew up in the Seattle-Tacoma area and graduated from high school in Tacoma in 1959. She married Tony Romano on November 6, 1971 and the couple made their home in Seattle before moving to Phoenix and then settling in Cle Elum in the winter of 1979. Dona worked at the Sunset Café for 23 years as a bartender and was the bar manager for 15 of those years. She retired in 2003. After retirement, Dona and Tony enjoyed traveling in their RV and would make many trips to Montana to visit family. They were also snowbirds and spent several winters in Arizona. She enjoyed crocheting as well as spending time with Tony - going to see movies, going out for dinner and hosting parties at their home for family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her amazing stuffed bell peppers. Dona is survived by her husband Tony at the family home in Cle Elum; children Tony (Kathy) Romano of Yakima; Tamara (Fred) Godfrey of Seattle; Ross Romano of Cle Elum; Rex (Vonda) Romano of Fort Worth, Texas; John Romano of Cle Elum; Deanna Meyers of Easton and Darren (Tiffany) Romano of Helena, Montana. She is also survived by her brother Michael (Judy) Lewis of Duvall and sister Jan Hill of Oregon, as well as 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Dona was preceded in death by her son David, her parents and her sister Kay. Memorial contributions in Dona's honor are suggested to Hospice Friends, 302 S. Main Street, Ellensburg, Washington 98926.
