Donald Osmonovich

Donald Osmonovich, 86, lifetime Roslyn resident, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Prestige Care & Rehab Center in Ellensburg.  He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum.

Don was born at home in Roslyn on July 31, 1934, along with his twin brother Richard, to Nikola & Mara (Geyer) Osmonovich.  He grew up in the part of Roslyn known as “Ducktown” and attended school in the Upper County, graduating from Cle Elum High School in 1952.  Following graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis for two years before receiving an honorable discharge.

On March 1, 1957, Don and his high school sweetheart, JoAnne Brown, traveled to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho where they eloped. They continued to make Roslyn their home and have lived in the same home for over 60 years.  They also owned Cascade Motors in Roslyn for many years.

Don worked for most of his career as a logger in the summer and plowing snow for the Washington DOT during the winter months.  He was a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Roslyn Fire Department and was a member of the Roslyn St. Thomas #54 Masonic Lodge where he served as Master.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the family cabin in the Teanaway.  Of course, no story of Don’s life would be complete without mentioning his favorite hobby - gambling - slot machines, sometimes craps and a little bit of blackjack.

Don is survived by his wife, JoAnne, at the family home in Roslyn; daughters Dawn Marie Muller of Elma, Washington and Kim Renfro of Abita Springs, Louisiana; son Brad Osmonovich of Sprague, Washington; grandchildren Kellen, Frankie, Monica, Danny and Haley as well as great-grandchildren Gavin, Mason and Mya.  His sister Jennie Henderson and brother Louie (Sherry) Osmonovich, all of Cle Elum, also survive.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Richard and sister Mildred who both died as infants, and siblings Rose Baker, Nick Osmonovich, Mike Osmonovich, Mary Andler, Steve “Pip” Osmonovich, Ann Landis, George “Tootie” Osmonovich, John “Chick” Osmonovich.
