Eleanor Hart

Eleanor K. Hart, 89, resident of Ellensburg for 25 years, made her transition on January 4, 2019. Born in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania on May 11, 1929, she was the daughter of Dr. Charles & Mrs. Margaret Pharo. She graduated high school in 1946 in Trenton, New Jersey in 1946 during the height of World War II and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for three years. She also earned her pilot's license at the age of 18. Eleanor graduated from Pennsylvania State University in Kutztown with a bachelor's degree in education and pursued some graduate work in the fields of reading, linguistics and art. She spent many years teaching elementary education. She also worked at Squibb Pharmaceuticals as a technical illustrator where she also studied art, surveying and architectural drawing. After her "official" retirement, Eleanor worked for the Forest Service office in Cle Elum. Eleanor loved children's art and was a published author/illustrator with her books "Bigger Picture" and "Big Bang Art". She was also an avid fan of spending time at the ocean and sailing and also spent one year serving with the American Friends Service Committee.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Ali Dajani, a chief electrical engineer who passed away at the age of 28. She is survived by her children, Jihan (Michael) O'Donnell of Fairfax, VA and son Luke (Heather) Davis of Spokane, WA; five grandchildren and five great-granddaughters. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg.
