Frank Paul Silva, Jr., 82, left this earth on Saturday, November 30, 2024 after a long battle with COPD. His memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Good Hope Lutheran Church on Brick Road in Ellensburg. Viewing for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Johnston & Williams in Ellensburg.
Frank was born July 26, 1942 in Kingsburg, California to Josephine and Frank Paul Silva, Sr., and was the youngest of five children. Frank moved around most of California with his Portuguese family with his father working in various orchards and fields. They finally settled in San Jose, California where Frank attended James Lick High School.
Frank joined the Air Force in 1961 and became an Airmen First Class (A1C) serving for just under five years before his honorable discharge in October of 1965. He would fly on an aircraft as he was one of the mechanics for the plane. He flew to Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other places. He final station was in Moses Lake.
After serving in the Air Force, Frank married his wife Joy on July 1, 1966, and became dad to Joy’s three children – Don, Debbie and Ed. Daughter Marty Jo would join the family when she was born in August of 1967. They moved to Kittitas and lived on a small farm where they raised chickens, sheep and a Shetland pony. They eventually sold the small farm and moved to Ellensburg where Frank worked for Texaco delivering stove oil. Frank and Joy later moved from Ellensburg to Maui then to San Jose, before making their final homestead back in Ellensburg.
Frank enjoyed restoring old vehicles but after he retired he found a hobby of making wooden toys that he sold and donated.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joy; his children Debbie, Ed and Marty Jo (David); nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother William; his sisters Theresa, Olivia and Hilda as well as his son, Don.
