Gary Steve Labusky, 89, passed away on July 29, 2023 in Ellensburg. Gary was born on April 3, 1934 to Stephen and Elizabeth (Gresser) Labusky in Cle Elum, Washington. He graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1952 and went on to work in the lumber mills in Cle Elum and Peshastin.
Gary lived in Alberta, Canada for several years working on his sister Mary and Ken Lutz’s farm raising pigs. He also worked at the pulp mill during that time. He always said that raising pigs and working on the farm were the happiest years of his life. He moved back to Cle Elum to help his parents and started his own landscaping business.
Gary loved gardening and fishing. He was an excellent fly fisherman. He also knew all the spots to go mushroom and huckleberry picking, and loved to take his niece, Heidi, with him. He was passionate about talking vitamins and politics.
He is survived by his sister Mary Lutz and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jack and Rodney Labusky.
His Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cle Elum with a reception to follow at the Cle Elum Eagles.
