Gladys E. Alexander, 73, longtime Upper County resident, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Prestige Post Acute Care & Rehab Center in Ellensburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum with Pastor Worth Wilson officiating.
Gladys was born on December 7, 1948 in Fairbanks, Alaska and grew up in Kirkland, Washington before graduating from Sammamish High School in Bellevue. She met Richard Alexander in the early 1970’s and they were married in the summer of 1977. They continued to reside on the westside until moving to Cle Elum in 1991.
Gladys was an avid horseback rider and won numerous awards from her participation in pole bending and barrel racing competitions. In addition to her artistic abilities with charcoal drawings, Gladys will be fondly remembered for her amazing skills in the kitchen including her string bean casserole, spaghetti with sauce that she would make from scratch as well as her amazing cakes.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Richard, at the family home in Cle Elum; son Tony Alexander and his companion Tami LaRoque of Tacoma; daughter Kelley Alexander of Wenatchee; grandchildren Blake Alexander, James Osiadacz, Rebekah Swan and Gavin Giaudrone as well as many dear friends in the community.
