Jack Robert McDonald, 76, longtime Ellensburg resident, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 27, 2022.  Private family services will be held.

Jack was born on December 18, 1945 in Seattle, Washington.  He grew up in the Seattle area, graduating high school in the early 1960’s.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving for two years before his honorable discharge. Upon his return from the service, he began a long and rewarding career in law enforcement with the Bellevue Police Department, working his way up to Lieutenant and also serving on the SWAT Team and Bomb Squad.

Jack and Sherry spent 43 wonderful years together before she passed away in 2019.

Jack retired from law enforcement in the mid 1990’s after 27 years of service and he and Sherry moved to Ellensburg where they enjoyed the slower pace of life and their home on Ellensburg Ranches Road. Jack was an accomplished gun enthusiast and collector.  He was also an avid reader and loved spending time with his animals including his dogs, cats and horses. He will be remembered for his easy going ways, his generous heart and his friendly smile.

Jack is survived by his children Suzanne Merritt, Kristine Davis, Kiola Krienke and Jack L. McDonald as well as numerous grandchildren and many great friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry, as well as his son, Scott Bell.
