With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Ann Riddle, 87, on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima.
Joan was born on October 18, 1936 as an identical twin with her sister, Jane, in Java, South Dakota to Cornelius & Addie Noble. The Noble family moved to Washington in 1937 and settled in Ellensburg. The girls went to school in Ellensburg graduating in 1955 and many people referred to Joan and Jane as the “Noble Twins”. She met Robert Riddle in high school and they married in November of 1955. They started a family in 1956 and would be blessed with five children. Her passions were watching Hallmark movies, coffee, cooking, shopping, spending time with all her grandkids, and anything chocolate!. She was known for her amazing cooking, especially her pancakes and fried hamburgers.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her sister; loving husband of 34 years, Robert and oldest son, Rodney.
Joan is survived by her beloved children Terri (Kevin) Mohan, Ken (Sue) Riddle, Scott (Rosie) Riddle and Jim (Vonda) Riddle. She was a wonderful mom to all of us kids and grandma to ten beloved grandkids - Dustin (Adrienne) Mohan, Courtney Mohan, Tyler and Bobby Riddle, Nicole (Jake) Estabrook, Kimmi (Sage) Shelton, Kayla, Travis, Tanner Riddle, Vanessa Schademan (Jacob Nichols) and her six amazing great-grandchildren Corbin Mohan, Riggs and Cooper Estabrook, Milly and Hidee Shelton, and Atticus Nichols.
Mom will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed and never forgotten. She is finally free from the battle of Alzheimer's. We would like to thank Fieldstone Memory Care of Yakima. From the office staff, activities director to all the nurses and aides for their dedication to taking such good care of our mom and all the residents of Fieldstone with exceptional care and thoughtfulness. You are all so very much appreciated. We would also like to thank Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice for their guidance and care for mom.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 26 at Johnston & Williams Funeral Home in Ellensburg. Viewing will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
