Julie C. Johnson

April 12, 1935 — February 12, 2019

Julie C. Johnson, 83, of Cle Elum, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 with her husband Wes by her side. No formal services are planned. Julie was born on April 12, 1935 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Wilbur & Cecilia Grant. She spent her early childhood in Honolulu where her father worked in the shipyards as a civilian mechanic for the United States Navy. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, her family moved to California where she graduated high school in 1954. In 1970, Julie met Wesley Johnson and the two hit it off, marrying on October 12, 1976. Julie worked for many years for Maurice's Clothing, managing a store in Huntington Beach. She also worked in various customer service and sales roles over the years before officially retiring in the early 2000's. Julie and Wes spent most of their married life in California before moving to Sandpoint, Idaho where they lived for 10 years before moving to Puyallup to be closer to their daughter Susan. In 2006, they built a home outside of Cle Elum and have lived there since that time. Julie was a very creative person and enjoyed macramé and creating silk floral displays. She was also a wonderful cook - credited to her Portuguese ancestry - she made wonderful dishes for her family and friends. Her family will remember her amazing Vinha d'alhos, which is a pork roast marinated in vinegar and other spices. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Cle Elum Senior Center and would also host bingo parties for friends at her home. Julie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wesley Johnson; son Christopher Ryan and daughter Susan Schorsch and her husband Steve; granddaughter Jessica and grandson Chris as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Memorial contributions in Julie's honor are suggested to Hospice Friends, 302 S. Main Street in Ellensburg. Cascade Funeral Home of Cle Elum has been entrusted with caring for Julie's family. Online condolences may be left at www.cascadefuneralhome.com
