Kay Karmen Watson Clark-Herbuck was born on Friday October 14, 1938 to Dorathy & Lawrence Watson at 3 a.m. She grew up with one older sister, Carol, and one younger brother, Larry. Being able to grow up in Grandview as a free spirited red head made for a full life. Marching band and cheerleading filled her high school evenings while academics filled the days.
Since Kay was such a good student, she earned her way to Olympia to participate in Girls State and it was that background that helped her get her job with the phone company in Reno, Nevada. After her marriage, she had three boys - Kevin, Craig, and Chris - whom she loved with a quiet devotion. Keeping them on the go with football practices and games was a job in and of itself!
After moving her family to Ojai, California, she heard of a job with the Ventura County Government Center. When applying for the job she found herself to be the only woman in a room of nine men and she was the only one with just a high school education. All that aside, she was the only one that got the job! She stayed at the Government Center for over forty years!
After a divorce and finally retiring from her post, she found dancing as an artistic outlet. She entered many amateur Ballroom Dancing competitions and received many awards. It was through dancing she found the love of her life, Gean Herbuck. They courted for a few years until finally saying, "I do". For the rest of their lives together they shared so much love and laughter with family and friends. In 2010 Kay had to say goodbye to her love. A short eight years later, he came to bring her home on Saturday the 20th of January 2018. She lives on in every blessed memory she left in the hearts of the people she has touched over her 79 years on this earth. Farewell beloved. Steward & Williams Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Kay's family.
