February 19, 1943 — August 3, 2023

Roslyn, Washington

Mass of Christian Burial for Lucy Frances Macagno will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Roslyn with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum.  Lucy passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima.

Lucy was born to James and Josephine (Peretti) Macagno on February 19, 1943 in Roslyn, Washington.  She was a wonderful young girl and grew up in her family home on the top of the Brookside area of Roslyn.  As the house was situated at the edge of town, her yard and the forest it bordered were her playground. Lucy and her family were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where both she and her younger brother, James, received their baptism and confirmation.

Lucy would walk down the hill to school each day.  She knew every family in all the houses she passed.  These early childhood years were instilled in her mind, and she could tell you about every family in every house and their names.  Lucy attended grade school in Roslyn and graduated from Cle Elum High School in the class of 1962.

Lucy worked in service jobs in Ellensburg, commuting each day with neighbors until she moved there in a few years.  Later she would move to Yakima to work and be with her brother, James, who moved there after college for his career.  Lucy attended Yakima Valley Community College and graduated in 1984 earning her associate degree.

Lucy continued to work at many different jobs in Yakima and frequented as many activities around the city as she could fit in a day.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Parish and attended Mass and activities there.  Lucy was so proud of her family and friends in the Upper County and would take every opportunity she could to tell you all her stories of growing up there.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Josephine Macagno, and her younger brother James A. “Jimmy” Macagno.  Lucy will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, and all their friends, and her stories of historical events and all happenings in her life.

Memorial contributions in Lucy’s honor are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Roslyn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Cle Elum.  Online condolences may be left at www.johnston-williams.com
