Marlene Rae (Sterkel) Nelson

Ellensburg, Washington

Marlene Rae (Sterkel) Nelson passed away peacefully in the presence of her family during the early morning of January 13, 2021.

Marlene was born on March 6, 1941 in Selah, Washington and was a lifetime resident of the Kittitas Valley. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Nelson, Sr. of Ellensburg; sons Don Jr. (Menell) of Walla Walla, Douglas (Teri) of Carlsbad, California and David (Pam) of Richland; grandchildren Brianna (Jason) of Mukilteo, Talyah of Riverside, California, Lindsay of Richland, Brandon of Okinawa, Japan and Delanie of Carlsbad, California.  She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews as well as her brother Richard Sterkel and sister-in-law Shirlene Sterkel.

Marlene was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and a good friend to many. She was an excellent homemaker and took great pride in all she did.  She lived a good and happy life, and was dearly loved by her family and friends.

Services will be held at a future date.  Memorial contributions are suggested to a cancer organization of your choice. Our family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses of NorthStar Cancer Center and the Kittitas Valley Hospital – she thought highly of you all!
