Martha Gloria Allred Hansen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the home of her son and daughter in law in South Cle Elum, WA. She was able to live a full life of 84 loving years.
Martha Gloria was born the third child of William “Bill” Allred and Lutilda Richardson Allred on July 15, 1940 in Layton, Utah. Her family resided in the Layton area until relocating to Washington around the time Martha Gloria was in her early teenage years. She married Gerald “Jerry” Karl Jones on February 15, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Three children blessed this union; William “Bill” Karl, Richard “Mark” and Ludora “Dodie” Ann. On February 7, 1970, Martha Gloria married Theodore “Ted” Hansen. They were married in Redmond, Washington. Two children were born of this union; Esther Arlene and David Luther.
She worked in various occupations but mainly healthcare assistant and janitorial work. She made beautiful wedding cakes for many families and friends throughout the years, displaying her amazing talent. The occupation that brought her the most joy was volunteering at the Soap Lake Food Bank for 30+ years and doing philanthropy work in her community. She started the organization Frosty’s Friends, which provides Christmas gifts to families in need in the Soap Lake area. This organization is still providing holiday cheer to many.
Martha Gloria was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, most recently in Soap Lake, WA area. She enjoyed doing temple work in various temples.
Her favorite hobbies included reading Lois Lamour books, watching John Wayne movies, crocheting, painting, sewing and playing the violin. She enjoyed singing in church choirs and during church services. Her most favorite past time was loving on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and sharing her various talents with them. She would often remind the adults that the children were not theirs, but hers. Having family around her brought her much joy. Her family remembers her as a generous and caring mother and grandmother with a heart full of love. She often made homemade gifts of jam and keepsakes and put much thought and effort into her gifts. Her beautifully hand painted goose eggs and hand crocheted Christmas stockings are among the favorites.
She is survived by her children; Bill (Kelly) Hansen of S. Cle Elum, WA, Mark Hansen of Phoenix, AZ, Dodie (Adam) Hosey of Bonney Lake, WA, Esther (Walter) Walsh of Ellensburg, WA and David Hansen of Soap Lake, WA, as well as a brother, Robert (Cindy) Allred of Ocean City, WA; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was proceeded in death by both her parents, sisters MaryLu Kern and Michal Patteson, and brother John Allred.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 20th at 11:00 AM at Hillside Cemetery in Issaquah, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances go to the Soap Lake Food Bank at www.soaplakefoodbank.com.
