Martha Emma Green

Martha Emma Green passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2023.  She was born December 12, 1932, in Egypt, Washington to Emil and Emma Kern.  Martha grew up on a wheat farm with milk cows, work horses, pigs, chickens, and a large garden. This created her love for the land and animals.

Martha met Jack Green on a blind date, and they married on August 23, 1950. Jack and Martha started their family, having six children.  She wore many hats throughout her life.  Wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, great-great grandma, bookkeeper, housewife, farmer, post office janitor, writer/storyteller and Rancher. She was a mother/caregiver to whatever 2 or 4 legged stray came around. She will be remembered for her love of God, love of family, her kindness and humor.  Through life’s challenges, she was like the energizer bunny; by God’s grace she bounced back and kept on going.

Martha is survived by her daughters Cathy (Mike) Stoltey, Becky (Dale) Johnston, LD (Gwen) Green and Wendy (Joe) Yearout; daughter in-law Diane Green; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by Jack Green; sons David and Randy Green; her parents; her sisters Anna Marie and Ruth and son in-law Nolan Shattuck.

A Celebration of Martha’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Plummer Assembly of God Church in Plummer, Idaho.
