Matias Rocafort

Matias Rocafort, a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, dog dad, and friend, passed away suddenly on July 29, 2021 at age 29. Born in Coral Gables, Florida on February 10, 1992, raised in Ellensburg, Washington and a graduate of Summit Preparatory School.

The loss is felt by many because of Matias’ natural ability to connect with anyone and everyone.

Matias felt most at home working alongside his grandfather, Larry Anderson, uncle, Jay Anderson and friend, Oscar Munguia on the family farm. His strong work ethic, pride in being a farmer, and love for his family drove his desire to learn and master the family business. When asked “what are you doing?” he would often respond with “farming America.”

By far one of the most creative people, Matias loved playing the drums, keyboard, and mixing beats. He had a passion for music that could not be rivaled, and he could spend hours teaching himself new music or just perfecting the songs he created with his friends. In addition, he had a love for writing songs, short stories, scripts, and journaling. He had an incredible ability to express himself through words and music and we only wish he shared that more with the world.

Beyond his creative outlets, Matias had the talent to touch so many hearts in such a short time. So many friends and family members recall his ability to make them feel like the most important person. He was always a friend when someone needed one and was always ready and willing to forgive. He felt so much and gave so much to those who were lucky enough to meet him.

Described as one of the funniest people in the room, he continuously made people laugh with his sharp sense of humor and witty banter. He always laughed before he could get to the punchline of his stories which somehow made them funnier. He found so much joy in little things and he had a laugh and smile that could brighten your worst day.

Known for his inability to turn down a meal, he was always ready to say yes to a burger, a dinner out or meal from Chipotle. If you needed help finishing the last of your ice cream, you could count on him for that, too.

Matias was often seen as a breath of fresh air because of his authenticity and genuine interest in other people. He felt so much and loved so much that his loss will be felt by so many.

Matias will be missed everyday by his Mother and friend, Colleen Anderson, Father, Russ Belsaas, Sister and Brother-in-Law, Cristin and Michael Gray, Grandparents, Arlein Anderson, Sylvia Rocafort and Larry Anderson, and all of his loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends.

We all love you and miss you, Matias.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Matias’ life at the Anderson Residence, 1601 Brown Road in Ellensburg, on Saturday, August 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
