Michael W. Grunden, age 76, passed away on March 26, 2024, surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer.
A beloved husband and father, Mike is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sheryl Grunden; and their children Ashley Snow (Sean Snow) and Brady Grunden (Heather Grunden). Mike’s youngest sister Cindy Barillas lives in California and his nephew Michael Pollardo in Western Washington.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Hayden and Virginia (Mallory) Grunden and his sister, Patti Pollardo.
With four grandsons (Andrew Grunden, David Grunden, Cody Snow & Jake Snow), Mike stayed busy and was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.
Mike was born on August 22, 1947, in Seattle, Washington. He spent his formative years in Mountlake Terrace. He went on to attend the University of Washington and played baseball at Everett Community College.
A Veteran, Mike served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He graduated from Central Washington University and later became an HVAC Project Manager. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work and dedication.
After living in Mukilteo, Mike and Sheryl built their second home and moved back to Ellensburg and have resided in the Kittitas Valley for over 25 years.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and hiking. He loved playing and watching baseball! He always had a strong group of friends that he adored spending time with. He was one of a kind and seemed to always be in the middle of the fun.
His memory will be cherished by all who know him, and he will be deeply missed.
A gathering of family and friends will take place starting at Noon on Sunday, April 28 at the Grunden residence.
