After a six-week battle against the odds, various ailments and a heart surgery, Michael “Mike” Kennedy peacefully departed this world on October 21, 2022 for his Heavenly home. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Stonehouse 101 in Roslyn.
The son of Ernest and Lillian (Thomas) Kennedy of Sunnyside Blvd in Marysville, Washington, an area where he spent his full childhood, all school years, married his high school sweetheart - first wife, Ann Philipp, built a first home and raised three children – Michael Andrew and twins Patrick John and Emily Ann. They also enjoyed time at a shared generational beach cabin on Camano Island and time in Hawaii.
Always needing to be active, Mike excelled in most everything athletic including his chosen vocation. This included being a multi-sport athlete at Marysville High School, the sports of swimming, water skiing, riding motorcycles, sail boating, activities of fishing/crabbing, dancing, story telling and operating equipment of all kinds. Kids were in tow when possible and he loved it all the more when they were.
His lifetime career began and ended within the timber industry. He was a lumberjack, heavy equipment operator and manager at Scott Paper Co., then transitioned to create his own tree thinning operation company with Ann (RAM Enterprise) and later a corporation (Ramco Inc.) with partner/wife, Deborah.
Ramco was under contract to King County Metro for over 20 years utilizing retro-fitted thinning machines that he innovated the design for and used to fertilize tree farms, both in the US and Canada.
Both sons participated at different times in Ramco operations on the ground and his daughter in the office, to experience pride in a family business and of a job well done.
Mike is survived by his wife Deborah of Benton City; son Patrick Kennedy and daughter Emily Kennedy both of California; sisters Robin Diede and Leslie Kennedy of Everett; grandchildren Madison, Conner, Henry and Levi, the Hoffman kid clan of Tanya, Elisha, Amanda and Joshua and nieces, nephews and those forever friends, both near and far.
