Pamela Jean Henshaw, 74, longtime beloved resident of Cle Elum, passed away at her home on Monday, September 7, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum. Attendees are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing based on households.
Pam was born on January 30, 1946 in Spokane, Washington to Arnold & Helen (Sarsfield) Ochs. She was raised in Spokane and graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1964. She attended business courses at Spokane Community College before being recruited by Key Bank as a data processor. She moved to Seattle for a time before being transferred to Key’s Cle Elum branch.
While working in Cle Elum, Pam was introduced to Bernie Henshaw by a mutual friend. The two hit it off and were married on October 27, 1973 in Cle Elum. Pam continued to work for Key Bank until 1976 when their son Brad was born. Pam and Bernie opened Henshaw’s Nursery & Irrigation, a business they owned and operated together for over 30 years. She also owned and operated a travel agency for a time, which opened up many travel opportunities for her and Bernie to travel, including many Caribbean cruises.
Pam loved flowers, gardening and could crochet almost anything for anybody. She rarely missed her morning coffee group with “the girls” and truly enjoyed being a caregiver and making sure those around here were cared for.
Pam is survived by her husband, Bernie, at the family home in Cle Elum; sons Craig (Diane) Henshaw of Everett and Brad (Annette) Henshaw of Cle Elum; eight grandchildren; siblings Tamera Weeks of St. John, WA; Linda (Keith) Mitchell of Fairbanks, AK and Robert Ochs of Endicott, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister Gwendolyn Garrett.
Memorial contributions in Pam’s honor are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/donate
