Patricia S. Jackson

February 11, 1934 — April 7, 2025

Ellensburg, Washington

Patricia Sue “Pat” Jackson, a longtime Ellensburg resident, passed away at her home on April 7, 2025. Pat was born on February 11, 1934, in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania and was raised in DuBois, Pennsylvania by her parents, Lester and Ethel (Nelson) Brown. She graduated from Sandy High School in DuBois in 1952.

After high school, Pat worked in her hometown for a few years before heading west. She settled in Denver, Colorado where she met Robert “Bob” Jackson who resided in the same boarding house. Pat and Bob married in 1960. They were blessed with three children—Tracy, Robert, Jr. and Michelle. The family later moved to Beaverton, Oregon when Bob was transferred.

In 1978 the family moved once again to Ellensburg where Pat flourished. She worked for Central Washington University in several secretarial/administrative assistant positions until she retired in 1999. Pat loved to travel. Shortly after retirement, she and Bob took an extended road trip across the country to visit friends, family, and many national attractions. She and Bob also vacationed in Fiji, Thailand, and Australia. Pat also loved the ocean. Many short excursions were spent at the Oregon and Washington coasts. After Bob’s passing, Pat was excited to finally go to Hawaii with her daughters. She also enjoyed trips to Ireland and Isreal in her later retirement years.

Pat’s hobbies were cooking, baking, and entertaining. During the holidays her home was filled with family, friends, and good food. Kolache from a passed-down family recipe was her trademark specialty at Christmas time. She always made extra loaves to share with family and friends. One of her favorite holidays was St. Patrick’s Day where her dinners of corned beef and cabbage and beer bread were much anticipated.

Pat was active in many community organizations and clubs including Beta Sigma Phi, PEO, Ellensburg Rodeo Posse Wives, Rigadoon Dance Club, Laughing Horse Summer Theater, Scholarship Dinner Groups, and others. She is well known to KVH employees from her volunteer work at the hospital coffee stand. She was also a longtime and faithful member of the Ellensburg Presbyterian Church.

Pat is survived by her children Tracy Jackson of Ellensburg; Robert Jackson, Jr. of Ocean Shores; Michelle Jackson of Ellensburg; stepdaughter Dale Ann Hulsizer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandsons Andrew (Shayla) Winter of Wenatchee and Dayce Childress (Nicole Miller) of Chehalis; great-grandson Gunner Winter, sister Janet (John) Gross of Pennsylvania and nieces Shannon and Kelly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Jackson, Sr. in 2003; as well as her parents.

Pat’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in the Evenson Memorial Chapel at Johnston & Williams in Ellensburg with burial will follow at High Valley Memorial Park. Viewing will be Wednesday, April 16 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
