Pauline Burroughs, 79, of Ellensburg, passed away on December 9, 2017 at the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. At Pauline's request, no services will be held.
Pauline was born on April 18, 1938 in Shirebrook, England. She grew up in the Shirebrook and Mere Green areas and attended schools there, finishing her high school education in Mere Green. After high school, Pauline moved to London where she met and married a gentleman and they had one daughter, Deborah. The couple later divorced. Pauline later moved to Wainwright, Canada.
In 1968 while visiting Norfolk, Virginia, she met a handsome young sailor named Ray Burroughs. The two hit it off and when it came time for Pauline to return to Canada, she and Ray continued to keep in touch with letters. After some time, Ray proposed marriage to her in a letter, she accepted, and the couple married on January 23, 1969. After their marriage, Ray formally adopted Deborah as his own and the family lived all over the world - wherever Ray's career in the US Navy took them - while also welcoming two more children to their family, Raina and Jason.
Pauline was a loving mother and grandmother and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her family. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, who called her "Nanny" and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Ray Burroughs of Ellensburg; children Deborah (Woodrow) Reynolds of Las Vegas Raina (Brian) Anderson of Las Vegas and Jason (Theresa) Burroughs of Ellensburg; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with one more great-grandchild on the way. Steward & Williams Funeral Home & Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted with caring for Pauline's family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.steward-williams.com
