Richard (Dick) Filleau passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Kittitas Valley Hospital in Ellensburg. Dick was born on June 16, 1937, in South Cle Elum, to Cliff and Sophie Filleau. He graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1955. He joined the Navy, and his duty-time was primarily served on aircraft carriers. He served on the USS Coral Sea and the USS Bennington. After his service, he returned to Cle Elum, where he married Bonnie Harris in 1960. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting, whether it was elk, deer or duck hunting, and fishing the potholes or local lakes and rivers. He also loved mushroom picking and (sometimes) berry picking. Dick worked for Weyerhaeuser for a time, then returned to Cle Elum, and worked in the coal mines for a time. When the mines closed, he began a career with the Carpenter's union. He liked bridge construction, and worked on the Fred G. Redmon bridge (into Yakima), the Vantage bridge, and the Denny Creek Bridge, among others. He then worked for Holiday Inn, as a Construction Manager, and built and remodeled several of their properties. After retiring from the Carpenter's, he became a Custodian with the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District. He had the gift of gab and enjoyed visiting with everyone, telling tales (whether true or not). He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Sophie Filleau, his in-laws William and Hazel Harris, his wife of 55 years, Bonnie, and his son, Steve Filleau. He is survived by his daughter, Gwyn (Dave) Hart of Fall City, Daughter-In-Law Kris of Cle Elum, Sister Deloris (Rolland) Dewing of Renton, Brother Cliff Filleau of Bothell, Brother-In-Law Bill (Joyce) Harris of Cle Elum and grandchildren Sam Hart of Quincy, WA, Matt Hart of Fall City, WA, Sophie Hart of North Bend, WA, Cooper Filleau of Huntington Beach, CA, Emily Filleau of Cle Elum, WA, and a lot of extended family. At his request, no services will be held. Any remembrances can be made to the Roslyn Riders or The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Cascade Funeral Home of Cle Elum has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.cascadefuneralhome.com
