Richard Matthew Ozanich, Sr., 86, of Richland, passed away at the Kadlec Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 12, 2021. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24 at the Dr. Starcevich Cemetery #2 in Roslyn.
Rich was born on July 2, 1935 in Roslyn, Washington to Matthew N. & Mary C. (Ross) Ozanich. He grew up in Roslyn and attended the local schools where he excelled in baseball and basketball. Following graduation, Rich earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from Central Washington University. He also honorably served in the United States Army.
Rich met Carol Lynn Sheean and they were married on October 18, 1963. They made their home in Richland for over 60 years. Rich worked for the Richland School District as a school psychologist and retired from the school district. In retirement, he became a self-taught taxidermist and enjoyed firearms. Rich also relished the summers spent with his family at their Lake Cle Elum cabin.
Rich was preceded in death by his wife Carol and sister Frances. He is survived by his son Rich Ozanich, Jr., wife Reisa, and their sons Richard III and Nicholas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
