Robert "Bobby" Jerome Fischer of Roslyn passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Bobby was born in Roslyn in 1955 and lived in Roslyn all his life. Early on he discovered a passion for horses and the high mountain lakes and spent many hours in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Waptus and Diamond Lake were two of his favorites. He was an expert packer and would pack extra beer and steaks to share with hikers. He would bring some of those mountain hikers home for a good meal.
Out of high school Bob worked for Amtrak for one year on the train to Chicago as a porter. He then inherited the Roslyn Fuel Company, a coal delivery company, from his father Frank in 1977 and ran that company for 40 years. He had his own grader, dozer and backhoe and did snow plowing and road building . He also worked for the City of Roslyn as Street Superintendent for 20 years, and was a Roslyn City Policeman until Roslyn joined with the Cle Elum Police Department. He worked security for Northern Exposure and was Janine Turner's personal security for several seasons. Bob was also a Roslyn volunteer fireman for 20 years. Bobby was super outgoing and had hundreds of friends. His great niece named him "Bobby Too Loud".
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Arlynn, and his youngest sister Joan, and his Clark and Fischer grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Maria and three children, Joanie Lee, Sarah Cobb (Zack), and Jack Fischer (Kim Sanford), and his grandchildren, Sophia Shelton-Lee, Tinley, Quincy and Coy Jack Cobb, and Hendrixx Fischer. Nephews Michael Johnston (Janelle), Carl Johnston (Emily), Brendan Beardsley (Tiffany), and Owen Steward, and niece Natalie Johnston (Daniel). Also survived by his sisters Susan Johnston (Mark Huxford), Diane Chambers (Tim Cooper).
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Roslyn Memorial Gardens with a memorial party to follow at Stonehouse 101 at Noon.
