Tyler Lee Lowrance

March 18, 2000 — July 25, 2022

Ellensburg, Washington

Tyler Lee Lowrance, 22, passed away at his Ellensburg home on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the age of 22. Words cannot begin to describe the person Tyler was, but we will endeavor to do so in this obituary.

Tyler was born on March 18, 2000 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Brian & Michell (Hayes) Lowrance. He spent the first few years of his life in Tulsa before his family moved to the Tri-Cities and then to Umatilla, Oregon where Tyler truly grew up. He attended all of his schoolings in Umatilla and graduated from Umatilla High School in 2018. During Tyler’s high school days he was extremely proud that he had been named Umatilla High’s Prom King

Following graduation, Tyler did “a little of this, a little of that”, mostly working as a cook in different restaurants while also pursuing his dream of becoming an artist, taking art classes at Blue Mountain Community College. Tyler eventually moved to Ellensburg in early 2022 and first worked in town for Hearthstone Cottage and recently started working as a line cook at The Early Bird.

Tyler met his boyfriend, Hunter Rodgers, in 2021 and they were living together in Ellensburg at the time of his death. Growing up Tyler had a way of making everyone in the room smile and laugh, there truly was never a dull moment if he was involved. He was always the most extravagant personality in the room and his smile was contagious to anyone lucky enough to see it. Tyler loved drawing, graphic novels, and getting creative with makeup. He’d give anything a try, successful at it or not, including playing video games and hiking - but he absolutely loved being outdoors camping, barbequing, and most of all he loved being in the water - whether it was out on a pontoon boat or in a pool.

Tyler is survived by his two moms - Michell Lowrance and Nettie Wilson of Kennewick; brothers Seth and Jacob Lowrance both of Umatilla; grandparents Patricia & Darryll Hayes of Richland and Jerry & Jerrie Ann Lowrance of Coffeyville, Kansas; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, as well as his boyfriend Hunter Rodgers of Ellensburg.  He was preceded in death by his father, Brian, in August of 2021.

Memorial contributions in Tyler’s honor are suggested to the Kittitas County Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 1239, Ellensburg, WA 98926 or to GLAAD-Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation online at www.glaad.org/donate
