William Fredrick "Bill" Watt, 57, of Cle Elum, passed away at his home on Friday, February 16, 2018. A family gathering to honor Bill's life will take place this spring. Bill was born on September 10, 1960 in Richland, Washington to Melvin Jr. & Rusta (Stephens) Watt. He grew up in the Tri-Cities area and graduated from Kennewick High School in 1979. After high school, he went to work as an ironworker while also attending trade school at Columbia Basin College to further his skills in welding. In 1983, Bill moved to the Seattle area where he worked his whole career as a reinforcing ironworker before retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Iron Worker's union, both Local #14 in Spokane and Local #86 in Seattle. Bill married Kathleen Herom on January 21, 1984 in Richland, Washington and they recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. After Bill retired, he and Kathleen purchased property in the woods outside of Cle Elum. Bill spent a whole year building their home from the ground up and was very proud of the fact that he touched every board that was used to build it. Bill often said that the only time he could relax was when he was outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. He also very much enjoyed taking people out into the wilderness to hunt and fish and served as an unofficial guide to many of his friends. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen, at their home in Cle Elum; son Garrett (Lindsie) Watt of Granite Falls, Washington and brother Dan (Carol) Watt of Ocean Shores, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of monetary memorial contributions in Bill's honor, the family would encourage those who wish to honor Bill's memory by spending a few hours volunteering for a local charitable organization of choice. Cascade Funeral Home of Cle Elum is caring for Bill's family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.cascadefuneralhome.com
