William Nicholas “Bill” Wargo, 82, of Cle Elum, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 8, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Cle Elum Veteran’s Memorial at Laurel Hill Memorial Park. A reception will follow the graveside at the Cle Elum Eagles.
Bill was born on January 21,1939 in Cle Elum, Washington to Andrew & Jeannie (Dana) Wargo. He grew up in Cle Elum and attended school in the upper county, graduating high school in 1957. Following graduation, Bill served both in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and Air Force Reserves. He attended Central Washington University and University of Washington where he earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry.
Bill worked as a logger for pretty much all of his life and enjoyed the time he spent in the woods. This love of the outdoors followed him into retirement where he would spend many hours hiking to hunt mushrooms or pick huckleberries. He was an avid reader, collector of wines and enjoyed spending time with his cats.
Bill is survived by his sister Lorraine Nezworski of Spokane; nieces Kathy Stookey and Tracey Michelbook and nephew Ron Larrigan as well as many great and great-greaters nieces and nephews.
