Ruth Ann Brunner

Ruth Ann Brunner died May 17, 2023, at Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima. Ruth was born November 6, 1939, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. She attended nursing school at Winnipeg Children’s Hospital, attaining her Registered Nursing license. Her nursing school classmates and her time as a public health nurse in northern Manitoba provided her with many stories and treasured friends. Ruth continued to work as a nurse throughout her life, eventually retiring from the Ellensburg School District in the late 90’s.

In August 1963 she married Gordon Robinson (the brother of a nursing school classmate!) and they moved to British Columbia. Gordon died in an accident in 1970, leaving behind Ruth and their three young children. A neighbor introduced Ruth to Gerald Brunner and in 1972 they were married and started their life together in Ellensburg, WA.

Ruth enjoyed many hobbies and crafts, loved “collecting fabric,” loved animals, and always enjoyed laughing with friends. She loved sitting on the front porch with her dog, a cup of coffee, a book, or a friend.

Ruth was funny, loving, quirky, tough as nails, gruff, full of opinions, and always a mom. She counted many, many friends as family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael Robinson; husbands Gordon Robinson and Gerald Brunner; as well as many special friends and “Mother” Robinson. She is survived by son Joe and wife Kristine, grandson Max, daughter Cathy, and the Robinson/Treble families.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Ellensburg Presbyterian Church. In honor of Ruth’s sweet tooth, cookies will be served immediately following the memorial service.
