Understanding Funeral Pricing

Funeral prices are broken down into three categories, each of which goes into calculating the overall cost of a funeral. At the conclusion of your arrangement conference with the funeral director, you will be provided with a "Statement of Funeral Goods & Services Selected" which outlines each selection your family has made to arrive at the overall cost of the funeral or memorial.

To better help families understand these categories before you come into the funeral home to make arrangements, we've provided explanations below:

  • Professional Services include the professional and technical services of our staff, use of our facilities, equipment and full fleet of professional funeral automobiles, along with access to our professional knowledge bank that comes with our firms' collective 100 year-plus history of serving families in Kittitas County.

  • Merchandise is the category of items such as caskets, urns, alternative cremation containers, outer burial containers, memorial stationery, headstones and other tangible goods we sell you. All merchandise is subject to applicable sales tax.

  • Cash Advance Items are things that we procure and/or pay for on your behalf ahead of the service and include on your statement. This category includes items such as certified death certificates, paid obituary announcements, gratuities for service participants (such as clergy, organist/pianist, vocalist, etc.) and cemetery expenses.

When exploring funeral costs, please remember that the accurate cost of your family's wishes is arrived at when the total of all three categories above are combined.

Professional Services + Merchandise + Cash Advances = Total Price of Funeral

When comparing pricing between funeral homes or cremation providers, we encourage you to look at the whole picture and not just the lowest advertised price. We are always available to discuss pricing with you and help your family arrive at a realistic estimate of the costs involved for any funeral, memorial, cremation or burial that your family may wish to arrange.

Our Commitment to Transparency

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Funeral Rule requires that price information be disclosed to all consumers who ask through the use of the General Price List, Casket Price List and Outer Burial Container Price List.

Currently, there is no FTC requirement that funeral homes make this information available online. However, as part of our commitment to being transparent, open and honest with every family that calls upon us, we clearly and accurately disclose our pricing information online so that you can review all of our prices, products and services from the comfort of your own home.

By continuing to read the information on this page, you are acknowledging that you have reviewed and/or downloaded a PDF copy of these price lists (found below) so that disclosure of pricing can be made per the FTC Funeral Rule.

We don't believe it is our place to make assumptions as to what your family may or may not want when planning a cremation for your loved one which is why we offer a variety of alternative containers to select from as shown on this list.

  • Urn Vaults

What is an Urn Vault?  An urn vault serves a similar purpose to that of an outer burial container used for casketed burial - that is to maintain the integrity of the cemetery grounds by creating an outer enclosure around the urn. While not required by any law, some cemeteries require an outer enclosure for in-ground urn placement.

Some cemeteries sell their own urn liners and provide their own graveside setups. Other cemeteries are not equipped to do so and defer the responsibility of selling the outer enclosure and setup of the graveside to the funeral home.

  • Outer Burial Containers

What is an Outer Burial Container?  The Outer  Burial Container, which can either be a grave liner or vault, is designed to maintain the integrity of the cemetery grounds by creating an outer enclosure around the casket. While not required by any law, almost all cemeteries require them as a condition of burial on their grounds.

Some cemeteries sell their own grave liners and provide their own graveside setup as part of their charges. Other cemeteries are not equipped to do so and defer the responsibility of selling the outer enclosure and setup of the graveside to the funeral home.

We have partnered with Wilbert, the leading national supplier of burial vaults, to offer quality products and graveside setups to the families we serve. The vaults available for your family to select are included below and many come with unique personalization options to make the graveside service memorable and special.

    SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR LOCAL CEMETERIES

IOOF/High Valley (Ellensburg) - Both cemeteries have concrete grave liners available to purchase directly through the cemetery. If you wish to use a burial vault, it must be purchased through the funeral home.

Laurel Hill Memorial Park (Cle Elum) - Laurel Hill has rigid plastic grave liners available to purchase directly through the City of Cle Elum. If you wish to use a concrete liner or a burial vault, it must be purchased through the funeral home.

Roslyn Cemeteries - Roslyn Memorial Gardens is the only section of the Roslyn Cemeteries that a concrete grave liner or burial vault can be accommodated. All other burials in the Roslyn Cemeteries use a rigid plastic burial vault, sold by the City of Roslyn.

Payment Arrangements

Losing a loved one is an incredibly painful and emotionally challenging experience. It often comes at a time when survivors are least prepared, both emotionally and financially, and can severely impact one's judgment. We firmly believe in the significance of acknowledging and celebrating a life that has been lived, and we are committed to assisting you in creating a meaningful service that meets your unique needs.

We also recognize the importance of being practical when it comes to funeral expenses, ensuring that they align with your family's budget while still honoring your wishes. To maintain fairness in this regard, we engage in discussions and reach agreements on payment terms during the arrangement process.

Our payment options include cash and check, which do not incur any processing fees, as well as credit cards, which have a 2.9% fee added to the total amount charged. Additionally, we accept life insurance assignments, with the associated fee varying based on the assigned amount.

We want to emphasize that we have never turned away a family based on their ability to pay, and we genuinely appreciate your openness in discussing financial matters. Our commitment is to work with you, if necessary, to arrive at terms that are fair and mutually agreeable to all parties involved during this challenging time.
